Building Community Help, a Saluda service organization, has requested the soon-to-be- abandoned vocational education building, but the group will have to provide information on what it would take to bring the building up to liability and insurance standards. Though the Polk County Board of Education would not be liable for the "green build ing," as the original education and seminary building of Sal uda Schools is called, under a lease agreement, the board wanted to make sure that the group could receive liability and fire insurance on the build ing. Group spokesman Melody Gibson gave an estimate of $9,110 for itemized improve ments. However, Superinten dent Dr. James Causby pointed out that to meet fire codes, the building would have to be totally rewired. Once the community group is clear on these details, the board said it has no objections to leasing the building. Community Help, which is presently seeking legal status would use the facility for a sat ellite public library, a residence for the teen group S Traxx and a meeting hall for local commu nity groups.- C.
